Stars Join GLBT in recognizing and awarding Music Promoter

December 20th 2005, a night that will not soon be forgotten by the guests who were in attendance for a very special party. The Cream Lounge located inside of Score Nightclub in Southbeach, FL was the venue chosen to hold The Granda Group of Companies annual very exclusive “by invitation only” Holiday Party. Cream Lounge was also chosen to host a very special award ceremony that night. Each year, Unity Coalition of Florida, along with Ambiente Magazine select ten individuals or institutions who have in one way or another, risen to represent the pride of the Hispanic Gay, Lesbian, Bi , Transgender community, to receive the prestigious Ambiete “Orgullo” award. Joe Granda, President/CEO of The Granda Group of Companies, which includes Granda Entertainment, LLC, Angel Eyes Music Group, Eyes of an Angel Music(BMI), Joey-Joe Music(ASCAP), and Playroom Recording Studios has been selected to be one of the recipients of 2005.

Granda Entertainment, LLC. handles promotions for music and visual related products, development and management of crossover Latin artists, and record producers and remixers. Granda was chosen to be one of the ten recipients, who were selected from a group of one hundred other noteworthy candidates, because his companies are recognized to be one of the top promotion companies in music and visual for major Latin artists in the GLBT community.  Specializing in the gay market for decades, Joe Granda has established quite a track record of tolerance, support, and awareness by the international media for the GLBT community, through its national Gay promotions and national Gay club tours of Major Latin Artists. Some of the artists he’s worked with include Paulina Rubio, Thalia, Celia Cruz, La India, Gloria Trevi, Fey, Lucia Mendez, Deborah Cox, Gloria Estefan, Ricky Martin, Luis Fonsi, Miguel Bose, David Bisbal and many more.

Among the guests who were present, which consisted of some of the most prominent figures of the Hispanic GLBT community in Miami, numerous members of the press and media, record executives, and DJ’s, were artists Gizelle D’Cole, Don Dinero, Angel Lopez of Son by Four, Tito Puente Jr., hostess for the night, Marytrini, David Alvarado (manager of Paulina Rubio), Migue (stylist of the stars) Andres Wolf,(record executive of WEA latina, Laura Pausini, David DeMaria, Miguel Bose) Ric Wake (composer and producer of Mariah Carey‘sSomeday” and Jennifer Lopez‘s “Waiting For Tonight”, and has also worked with Diana Ross, Taylor Dayne, Apollonia, Celine Dion, Anastacia, Jessica Simpson, Jon Secada, Shena Easton, Barry Manilow, and many more. DJ Abel Aguilera (producer of “Cha Cha Heels” and “Don’t Cha” by The Pussycat Dolls) DJ Bill Hallquist, (reporter for Billboard) members of the hot new group Formula Redux, and up-and-coming recording artist Charlie Damian.

Guests enjoyed the atmosphere of socializing, dancing with music by DJ Jorge Valdez of DJ Wizzzz music pool,(with more than 24 years of spinning under their belts) and gift giveaways from Keystone Designs of Coral Gables, Migue, and Salon Sun-Sational. Cocktails and appetizers, such as Ceviche from restaurant Salmon Salmon and Tortilla valenciana from Diegos Restaurant of Coral Gables, were abundant throughout the night as was great music.

After presenting the video remixes for Fey, Thalia, Paulina Rubio Formula Redux, and Gizelle D’Cole, which features America’s favorite heiress, Paris Hilton, a short video montage was shown in which Granda’s incredible career, triumphs, and accomplishments, were recapped. Culminating the video event was the presentation of the prestigious “Orgullo” award to Granda.  Last minute stars arrived just as the ceremony was taking place, but instead of diverting media attention, they insisted the focus of the night be Joe Granda, and to show their support, all of the Celebrity guests were right at Granda’s side as he was presented with the award.  The festivities continued with an impromptu performance by new recording artist Charlie Damian. He wowed the crowed with his vocal prowess with a rendition of the holiday classic, “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas”.

Just when it seemed this night couldn’t get any better, the party moved downstairs to the main floor, where Score’s loyal and plentiful Tuesday night clientele, were treated to amazing performances by Martytrini followed by Formula Redux. Angel Lopez then made the crowd swoon when he performed the Son by Four song, “A Puro Dolor” (“Purest of Pain”). Charlie Damian performed a soulful cover of Leon Russell’s “A Song For You”, and the very sexy Gizelle D’Cole was joined by Don Dinero to close the show with a high energy version of their song “Tomalo Suave”. DJ Gil Rodriguez kept the crowd dancing until the early hours of the morning.  Joe Granda has done a lot for the hispanic GLBT community, and this marvelous event perfectly exemplifies why he was a recipient of the Ambiente “Orgullo” Award.
